OK. Serious rant time. I just got back from watching Spider-man. I have to say up front that Tobey Maguire did an amazing job. Defoe and Dunst weren't half bad either. The action sequences were well done and the effects were very good. That said, having grown up with the cartoon series, they had to change it in all the little ways that really frustrate me. The details. For instance, instead of having Peter Parker build the web-shooters, it comes with the package of genetic changes. And, you never find out how me makes his (revamped) costume! But that part that ticked me off the most is the ending. It practically jumps up and down and screams, "SEQUEL!!!" That aside, it is a really good flick, and worth the 6 or 7 bucks, at least for once.

For ages I wanted a real job. Now that I have one, I realize it's not all it's cracked up to be, but for me at least, it really helps to have some driving force in life, and schoolwork definetly doesn't cut it. I realize that this is probably pretty boring for some of you reading this, but it's my blog, so I can drone if I want to. Anyway, landing a job at Dad's workplace wasn't quite what I'd benn planning, but it turned out really well. Being an AV guy at a seminary isn't terribly glamorous, but it pays for the occasional (okay, frequent) movies and the home savings account. And besides, my job description is to play with electronics. And isn't that what being a geek is all about?

I know Dad wants me to put my homework-ey stuff here, but frankly, it's really intensely boring for day-to-day reading/writing. So, I'm going to try weekly summaries of my scholastic achievements and see if I can get away with it. Instead of my homework, I'll rant about this or that or whatever ticks me off. In that vein, I still wait impatiently for the next installments of my online comics, Megatokyo and Shutterbug Follies, and while I recognize the need for the respective artists to do other things, such as their real jobs, I'm still greedy. ^_^ I have also relatively recently become a fan of a local band called Kill Hannah and while I know the name is morbid and disturbs my poor father, I content myself with listening to their music at loud volume in the basement and griping over the lack of tickets for their next show. So, talk to you later, all.

Today I worked a couple of hours at Seabury, read a couple of really interesting articles from Discover magazine (one on the effects of lasers on dentistry, and one on dinosaur extinction), and took the "What Blogging Archetype Are You?" personality test (see below), which is amusing because all the people that the archetypes are based on took the test and got other people as their result. Anyway, I am a Doc Searls.

You are a Doc Searls.
You enjoy writing, linking to interesting technologies and being an all-round smiley guy.

Over the weekend, I started a film series with some of my friends. Basically, we all get together and watch a lot of movies in a particular theme (This one was Alfred Hitchcock). There was also a talent show at church yesterday that was out on by the youth groups. It was extremely funny. There were numerous original skits, plus a couple of old classics such as "Who's on first".
