Well, I just got back from watching Star Wars: Episode II. My first (and often repeated) reaction was: Wow. My second: Yoda rules. A vast improvement over Episode I (though that's not saying too much), Episode II carries loads of plot development for the series and drop dead gorgeous effects, most notably Jedi Master Yoda, who is now completely computer generated and animated. Yoda also takes direct part in the climactic final battle and kicks some serious derierre. Even Jar Jar Binks, the character who is number 1 on the hit lists of many fans and viewers (including me), has a vital though small part to play. And the evil Sith Lords, are just plain diabolical in their Machiavellian scheming. Not that Episode II is without flaws. The Jedi seem to be just as easily duped as any others, and either Mace Windu and Yoda know something I don't or are just plain stupid in sending a headstrong, arrogant, and egotistical Anakin (Canadian Hayden Christiansen) off alone to be a personal bodyguard to the woman he's desperately in love with (the lovely Natalie Portman). But hey, for the effects alone I'd gladly pay for a ticket. And I'd definetely pay for another chance to see Yoda fighting one-on-one again. So, looks like I'll be headed back to the theater soon. Either here, or in a galaxy far, far away. (Sorry, I couldn't resist. ^_^)

All right. As per Halley's verbal and written commands, today's topic will be homeschooling. The way homeschooling works for me is relatively simple. I do various scholastic activities throughout the day, such as reading educational periodicals, textbooks, and David Weinberger's book "Small Pieces Loosely Joined", or other educational pastimes such as video classes and of course Greek with Dad. Later on, usually over dinner or directly afterwards, Mom or Dad tells me whether or not I've done enough and what sort of thing I should concentrate on tomorrow, i.e. chemistry, biology, Greek, and so on. The study process usually takes place either in bed with the radio on, or in the basement with the computer blasting music. I'm not sure why, but music helps me to relax and concentrate, and if it helps, I'm all for it. Mom and Dad. used to be more directly involved in my education, but they're busy enough as is and I'm self-sufficient enough at this point that they only need play a supervisory role. And that's basically it. I get my work done, and I go about my life. Oh, that reminds me. Anyone who tells me that homeschoolers have deprived social lives should actually find out what they're talking about before shooting their mouth off. I mean, I wouldn't have a problem with it if the person in question had surveyed an area or something and found that those homeschoolers were social hermits, because that person would be drawing from personal experience. But the assumption that a kid needs to go to school to have friends REALLY ticks me off. I have never been to school in my life and have loads of friends and have never had a problem making new friends. And all my homeschooling friends have certainly never shown any such deficiency. So I hope that helps you out, Halley and whoever else is reading this. If you've got any more questions, please feel free to blog me or email me at spaceguy@mac.com (sorry it isn't linked, I haven't figured out how to do that yet.)

Ack. Sorry it's taken so long for me to blog. The weekend has been really hectic. As Dad no doubt wrote, our basement flooded on Sunday, and I'm still recovering. Seeing as I spend most of my ime down here with the DVD player and the computer and my prized mp3 library, it's a bit of a change. Tonight at youth group our leader Chris led us through a meditiation he picked up in a monastery he stayed at last year during holy week. It was amazingly relaxing and interesting to see and feel my responses. I will write more later, but I'm tired and my brother is hovering.
