Yesterday was one of the best days I've had for a while. OK, to be accurate, yesterday morning was pretty bad, but last night was awesome. The cause of my mixed emotions is the annual homeschooler's drama class performance thingie, which I was supposed to tape. At the dress rehearsal on Friday night, my ego took a serious blow as the end result of my handiwork was more suited as a device to induce vomiting than as a source of fond memories for families. The shots just went all over the place. So yesterday morning, I really wasn't feeling too good. I had a mental image of a horde of venge- and wrathful homeschool moms bearing down on me. My fears proved groundless, and the performance tapes came out quite well, if I may say so, and it was at the cast party where the night seemed to blur together. Nights like last night make me wonder why anyone feels the need to get drunk or use drugs. We were all getting high on happiness just hanging out with each other. Some of you might understand what I'm talking about, but for those others, it's not something that I can really explain. Suffice to say, the Dr. Pepper flowed like water, the music was loud, and people were laughing and crying and laughing again all at once. I got lucky and got a ride home, because it was twenty minute's walk home, after curfew, and I REALLY didn't want to run into a cop or a group of drunk college students the way I was feeling. When I woke up this morning, I had as close to a hangover as I'd ever like to come, and have since spent the day hiding in the basement, drowning out my sorrows (see my last post). It also occurred to me as I was helping talk my friend Tim (or, as we call him, The Dude) through the same condition, that our little clique of homeschooling friends would make a funny and interesting movie, or maybe a sitcom, in the same sort of feel as a cross between Friends and Slacker (the older one by Richard Linklater). We're certainly crazy enough, stupid enough, and definitely funny enough. now all we need is a contract and someone to follow us around with a camera. Hmm...
